This month, Planetary Health has taken center stage in climate negotiations, public health discussions, and global health planning. At Beijing’sWorld Health Forum, leaders from Tsinghua University, the Chinese government, WHO, and the UN dedicated a full day to strengthening Planetary Health research, education, and policy collaboration. Meanwhile, at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting, PHA staff and members shared strategies for communicating Planetary Health and emphasized the importance of listening to and learning from Indigenous communities. The message is clear: Planetary Health is public health.
For COP30, leaders from 80 countries gathered in Belém, Brazil, and launched TheBelém Health Action Plan, supported by a $300 million commitment by global philanthropies, including the Rockefeller Foundation. In addition, theWe Are the Possibleanthology was released, featuring 12 poems co-created by the global community including PHA members. Across gatherings, the Planetary Health community is at the forefront of driving a global narrative shift, recognizing that protecting our environment is essential to safeguarding our health.
